Housed in a 19th century townhouse on Bruton Place, Babel House’s setting is quintessentially British. Its menu however, is inspired by the multicultural port towns of the Black Sea and its six bordering countries. The restaurant borrows its name from modernist Odessan novelist Isaac Babel and the space is inspired by the modernist and art-deco periods, with white marble and dark wood interiors setting the scene, alongside a glass atrium. The menu comprises traditional recipes inspired by the Black Sea, with appetizers featuring traditional lamb soup with Georgian spices and pike caviar with house-made Borodinsky toast. Mains meanwhile include the likes of pan-fried Black Sea turbot, and honey-marinated duck, while the bar serves a range of seasonal cocktails inspired by Babel’s collection of short stories The Odessa Tales.
