A spin-off from the Clerkenwell original, the Holborn branch of Amico Bio follows owner Pasquale Amico’s ethos of ‘green thinking…better living’ to the letter. Most of the ingredients are shipped twice weekly from the family’s organic farm in Capua, near Naples, and the kitchen aims to deliver a daily changing repertoire of fascinating vegetarian dishes with plenty of cameos from vegan and gluten-free specialities. Signature plates such as wholemeal pennette with broccoli and tofu or pan-fried spelt cake with crispy aubergines and salsa verde show the style, although a new menu is being specifically designed for this outlet; also expect tantalising stuzzichini and antipasti, plus some wholesome desserts to round things off. Organic and vegan wines from artisan Italian vineyards make a fitting accompaniment to the food and are true to Amico Bio’s enterprising green spirit.

I was so excited when I read the menu for Amico Bio I couldn't wait to get there and I definitely wasn't disappointed. It is a great vegetarian restaurant with a diverse menu and although it is Italian it didn't involve only pasta and risotta…and mushroom dishes kept to a minimum (not all vegetarians eat them!). There was a wide selection on the menu, I wanted to try everything! We shared a selection of dishes which were all amazing, very tasty and healthy. The service was great. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is lovely inside. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu! Definitely not to be missed for any vegetarian.

My third visit, on my own this time. The service is exemplary. No pressure, no undue fawning, just very civil and competent – exactly my personal preference. The food arrived in good order, and in good time too. Nothing rushed, nothing delayed – couldn't have been better. Maybe they're just very good at perceiving their customer's preiferences. Some dude that rushed in and seemed a bit hectic got served very quickly, and rushed out again well before me, while I was happy taking the opportunity to read my paper. The food itself was unfamiliar, but all the same very interesting and enjoyable. Some components seemed too watery, but it all worked out fine in the end – more my unfamiliarity than any problem with the food itself. It certainly was sufficiently spicy, and the whole experience was one of novelty. Given it was all vegetarian, I was entirely spoiled for choice. There are a great deal of options, and frankly I'd like to try every one of them. Had something different on every occasion, and every one has proven just fine. (In fact, since the misses had different dishes on my previous two visits. My advice is to disregard your initial impression upon being served a dish – one might think it looks strange, watery, too small and so forth. But it isn't. Once you've had it, you realise it had indeed been served exactly as it should. The price is very good value too. I'm happy to say this is worth a rating of 5.

This place is really delicious and has a relaxed, hip atmosphere. I think they even used to have a carne guisada or something, if you can believe that. My friend's husband took about 15 minutes to realize there was no meat on the menu, which she found hysterical. He ended up really excited about the food. it was absolutely amazing.Really delicious, feel-good-about-eating-it food that's totally affordable in a light, airy setting with good service. Need I say more?… Amico bio is definitely worth trying

I went to AMICO BIO in Barbican once but I decided to take advantage of GROUPON DEAL to try this new AMICO BIO in New Oxford St. 24£ Three-courses meal for two people – but we were in three. No special welcome, no appetizer/bread while waiting. We took TWO GLASSES of RED wine and one glass of WHITE WINE. Very good quality. (Price OK!) A smiling girl took orders but she wasn't that prepared for questions on food. STARTERS BUFALA MOZZARELLA, TOMATOES and BASIL TWO TINY slices of Bufala Mozzarella + THREE tiny slices of tomatoes and THREE MINUSCULE basil leaves (shame) Looked more like an appetizer than a starter! FRITTELLE DI CAVOLFIORE e INSALATA Really good, tasty… Some leaves of salad. Not a generous portion. MAIN COURSES CROCCHETTA DI PATATE E CECI con INSALATA DI CAROTE Good and light – not big enough portion to consider it as a main dish. (8.50£ – too high for chickpeas, potatoes and some barley around) Carrots salad? Just some long carrot flakes on the crocchetta. MELANZANE ALLA PARMIGIANA Normal portion, where is the cheese? It was watery because of (almost) lack of it. Good. We asked for bread to go with it which has been charged 2.50£ (literally 3 pieces of warm bread – toast size slices) One of us ordered ARROSTO DI SEITAN but they made a mistake so this person had to wait 5/10 mins to receive it. Normal portion, very good taste. DESSERTS CANNELLONE al cioccolato, very good. VEGAN CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM was ok. On of us ordered a glass of GRAPPA which costed 5.76£ Prices are high but the food doesn't worth it. They made a mistake, but they didn't do anything to solve it… If the treatement had been better and honest, I would have definitely come back but there are cheaper and MUCH BETTER vegan/vegetarian places to go!

We are always on the lookout for London's best vegetarian restaurants. For me and my boyfriend was the first time going to Amico Bio and I admitt it's been a lovely experience. The food is absolutely fabulous. I have to say that Amico bio offers a wide range of tasty and healthy dinning options at two different locations. The staff is very attentive ,caring and very friendly. Andrea our waiter took very good care of us. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone even to my non vegetarian friends.you are going to love it
