If you've tried and tested all the standard afternoon tea offerings and want something a bit different then this could be perfect for you. Cinnamon Bazaar’s daily afternoon tea offering is available from 3pm until 5pm, swapping out cucumber sandwiches for authentic Indian alternatives, and currently there's a collaboration between Vivek Singh, and Great British Bake Off star Tamal Ray. The pair have taken inspiration from their shared family roots in Kolkata, West Bengal to bring fire and spice to the usual afternoon tea offering resulting in a delicious spread for guests to tuck into (hold the cream and jam).
If you choose to indulge in this lovely new menu you'll be treated to a whole range of delicious Indian-inspired delicacies. Alongside a choice of teas, including ginger and cardamom masala chai, a selection of snacks is on offer – think Kolkata fish finger sandwich with tomato chutney cooked in turmeric, chilli and mustard oil, chicken kathi ‘spring rolls’, pani puri (semolina shells filled with spiced chickpeas, mint and tamarind water) and papdi chaat - a crisp wheat chaat with yoghurt, tamarind and refreshing coriander chutneys. Showing off his baking prowess Tamal Ray has ensured there is a good spread of dainties to indulge in too. The sweet side of things is taken care of with cinnamon cream macarons; pistachio cake with rose meringue and bhaapa doi - a steamed Bengali yoghurt with mango curd. And lovers of all things refined needn't worry either, all of the above is turned out beautifully on a traditional afternoon tea stand.
Until the end of September 2020, Vivek Singh has announced unlimited afternoon tea, a new scheme which will give diners the chance to enjoy Cinnamon Bazaar’s modern afternoon tea and chaats for just £15 per person (RRP £25).
