Found at Hotel Indigo, Wood Chester is the third location for the Wood restaurant group following on from sites in Manchester and Cheltenham.
Wood Chester features an intimate private dining room which can accommodate up to 10 guests. The room can be used for a number of functions, including birthday dinners and family reunions, while Wood also caters to the corporate crowd, with the private dining room able to act as a space for business meetings too.
The private dining room at Wood is a sleek space, and has the feel of a smart library in a country house. Guests sit around one long rectangular table, relaxing in plush bottle green chairs. Striking photography and artwork lines the walls while a wooden unit on one wall features plenty of random trinkets to discover.
Guests enjoying the private dining room at Wood Chester can dine from chef Simon Wood’s tasting menu. Chef Wood won the popular television cooking competition MasterChef in 2015 and his tasting menu pays homage to the best ingredients of the season. There’s also a fun element of mystery which lends itself well to private dinners; the tasting menu (available as a five, seven or 10-course feast) is revealed to guests in stages, as dishes arrive at the table. Before you begin your dining experience, the chefs will ask you if you have any allergies or dislikes they need to be aware of, and will then curate a bespoke tasting menu around your tastes.
There’s also the option to add a wine flight to your blind tasting menu, with the featured wines being hand selected by Wood Chester’s expert sommelier. As a thoughtful finishing touch to proceedings, there is the option to have your guests each take away a signed copy of Simon’s cookery book ‘At Home’ (available for a supplement), so that they leave with something to remember the evening by.
