Anyone seeking out impressive feasting in the capital ought to check out The Cooks’ Room at Hawksmoor’s Borough restaurant. Tucked away below the main dining room, this unique private dining room boasts its own open kitchen which allows guests to interact with the chefs as they cook up a storm in front of your very eyes. Guests will also have the opportunity to ask questions and to be guided through each course by the chef who makes it – an exclusive experience that any foodies in your party will love.
The Cooks’ Room can be configured in two different ways, depending on your preference: with one long table for communal dining or in a mini restaurant style with 18 seats. The shelves of the open-plan kitchen are lined with cookbooks and the wide copper counter can seat four for guests who want to be right in on the action. If you’d like to begin your private lunch or dinner with a cocktail reception, that can be arranged, as can wine pairings tailored to your choice of menu.
Hawksmoor’s three sharing menus are available for parties that would rather have the room all to themselves, though we’d recommend taking advantage of the unique Beef Feasting menu, which is only available in The Cooks’ Room. Charged with imagining what the ultimate Hawksmoor meal would look like, the Executive Chef team has created this special menu that includes the likes of langoustines and bone marrow, scallops and beef scratchings, and prime rib of 40-day Hereford beef served with dripping chips.
The Cooks’ Room can be hired out for all manner of private and corporate events, or you can attend one of Hawksmoor’s Cooks’ Room Supper Clubs. This ticketed event takes place on the last Friday of every month and runs on a first come first served basis.
