There’s fine dining restaurants, more relaxed bistros, and even a humble railway cafe. We’ve taken the guesswork out of it for you, and created a list of must-visit eateries in Henley-On-Thames, so you can enjoy some stress free dining in this beautiful part of the country.

Updated on 08 June 2023

With Marlow just around the corner, Henley-On-Thames has some stiff competition for drawing in the foodie crowd, but this small town is not to be underestimated, as it comes with its own impressive list of eateries. Whilst there may not be any Michelin star entries to the list, the best restaurants in Henley still include AA Rosette accolades, and cosy gastro pubs, as well as some cheaper cafe options.

In such a quintessentially British town, it’s no surprise that pubs are paramount here, with options along the river or set back in quiet surrounds. You’ll find something that’s suitable for any occasion, including somewhere that’s one of the most photographed and painted pubs in England, as well as one that’s over 250 years old. The great thing is, Henley offers delicious food at either end of the scale, whether it’s a big burger and chips you’re after, or somewhere with fine dining to celebrate a special anniversary.

Of course, with a waterside location as beautiful as here, it would be criminal to not make the most of it. Thankfully, there are some riverside restaurants perfect for soaking up the sun and taking in the stunning setting - from small family run bistros to bustling pubs great for meeting up with friends.

Henley has always been more commonly known for the Royal Regatta held here every year which sees some of the world’s best rowers flock to the quaint town, as well as the Henley Festival, which celebrates all of the finest music and arts the UK and elsewhere have to offer. But we’d like to take this moment to appreciate the food scene here, give credit where it’s due, and champion all of the independent restaurants.

So without further adieu, take a look through our list to find out for yourself.
