On Monday 8 August, 1 Lombard Street is hosting a wine tasting of some of its most prestigious bottles, as part of its Wine Society events.
Sommelier Matthew Mawtus has picked some of his favourite wines; each one has been matched to a dish specially developed by chef-patron Herbert Berger. Mawtus will talk guests through his choices
during the three-course meal.
The evening will start with a canapé reception, to include a fricassée of calves’ sweetbreads and langoustines, paired with 1998 Mumm Cuvée Lalou Champagne.
The three-course, sit-down menu is as follows:
-noisettes of new-season lamb, served with ragout of wild mushrooms, and vegetable fondants
paired with 2004 Château Leoville-Barton, St-Julien, Bordeaux
-apple tarte tatin, with vanilla ice cream and balsamic caramel
paired with 1993 Tokaji Aszu, 5 Puttonyos, Diznoko, Tokaji
-selection of cheese
paired with Marco di Bartoli Marsala 10 Years Old, Sicily
