Try the dishes that (almost) made a MasterChef

Tony Rodd chef London

Last year, the lovely Tony Rodd was narrowly beaten to the MasterChef crown by Simon Wood – but judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace still couldn’t get enough of the worthy runner up’s dishes (especially his brilliant tarte tatins). Now you can taste exactly what all the fuss was about – and judge whether Rodd was robbed – because the chef is hosting a monthly pop-up at Greenwich gastropub The Guildford Arms.

The seasonal four-course menu will include trout with crab and watercress salad and lemon ‘pearls’, and lamb rump with textures of heritage beetroot and zingy salsa verde. Each course has been matched with an optional wine pairing.

Tony Rodd’s next supperclub takes place on 5 April. Tickets cost £35 for four courses; matching wines cost an extra £17.50. To book, visit Tony Rodd’s website, or email The Guildford Arms.
