Bodegas Sanchez Romate, Marqués de Riscal and The Cobden Club are teaming up for a taste of Spain on Friday 28 October. Set in the newly renovated Cobden Club, guests will enjoy a set four-course
dinner designed to complement Bodegas Sanchez Romate sherries and Marqués de Riscal wines.
The evening is aiming to show off the marriage of some of Spain’s wine traditions with the innovative culinary and cocktail strengths of The Cobden Club. Marcelino Piquero (of Sanchez Romate) will
be on hand to walk around the tables explaining the wines and the food matches.
The evening will begin with the Sanchez Romate Venenciador offering guests a glass of their Reservas Especiales Fino Marismeño, using the traditional technique of pouring the wine from a great
height to give it more air and thereby improve the taste of the wine. It will be accompanied with Manchego cheese and Serrano ham. This will be followed by a goats' cheese & pine nut shortcrust
tart with sherry fig vinaigrette starter served with Sanchez Romate Reservas Especiales Amontillado NPU. There will be a choice of either Marqués de Riscal Rueda 2004 or Marqués de Riscal Reserva
2000 with the main course of roast breast duck with rosemary-scented dauphinoise potato, courgette salpicon and juniper-enriched Rioja wine jus. La Sacristía de Romate Pedro Ximénez Viejísimo will
accompany the pudding of Pedro Ximénez and raisin ‘spotted dick’, with plum compôte, lemon syrup.
After dinner, the Cobden Club will be open to both members and non-members for the rest of the evening.
