This November and December, diners visiting restaurants and hotels across 18 cities in the UK will be asked to add £1 to their bill, as part of the StreetSmart and SleepSmart campaigns to help the
StreetSmart is now in its 13th year and raised an impressive £455,000 in its 2009 campaign. More than 600
restaurants are taking part this year, including chefs such as Gordon Ramsay, Fergus Henderson and Giorgio Locatelli. SleepSmart is a new campaign to run alongside StreetSmart, whereby hotel guests
are asked to add £1 to their bill. Early recruits for the 2010 SleepSmart campaign in London include The Zetter, The Stafford, MyHotel (Bloomsbury and Chelsea), Brown's Hotel, Dukes, Lancaster
London, K West, The Landmark and Park Plaza County Hall.
Every penny raised goes directly towards helping the homeless, as all administration costs are covered by StreetSmart’s sponsor, Deutsche Bank. All donations are also invested in the local area,
providing emergency winter needs and jobs to the homeless.
The 18 cities or counties taking part in the 2010 StreetSmart campaign are Bath, Bedfordshire, Belfast, Birmingham, Brighton and Hove, Bristol, Cambridge, Cornwall, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds,
Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Nottingham, Oxford and Southend-on-Sea. A full list of the participating restaurants, homeless projects funded and partners supporting
StreetSmart can be found at StreetSmart.
