This weekend, roving mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana (formerly of Shoreditch’s Worship Street Whistling Shop) will take over the intimate basement of Stoke Newington tapas bar Trangallán for a
blink-and-you’ll-miss-it three-day pop-up.
Trangallán, which won Small Restaurant List of the Year in the Louis Roederer Wine List of the Year awards for 2012, will serve adventurous
tapas far removed from run-of-the-mill croquetas and tortillas, including smoked anchovies with pickled onions, tuna tartare in ajo blanco (chilled almond-and-garlic soup) and salt-cod tripas (cod
tripe, a Catalan delicacy) with fresh peas and pine oil.
Chetiyawardana – who operates under the name Mr Lyan – will pair Trangallán’s dishes with a range of drinks, from original cocktails, to flights of Tio Pepe sherry and drams of Dalmore whisky.
The mixologist – a fan of Trangallán – plans to open his own bar later this year, and is currently searching for the right site. Get a taste of things to come at this one-off event.
