Fans of Garsington and Glyndebourne will be delighted to hear that The Priory Bay Hotel in the Isle of Wight will be holding its own opera
festival on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 June.
On arrival Champagne and canapés will be served on the hotel lawns with views looking out over East Solent, after which there’ll be a performance of Strauss's Die Fledermaus in the gorgeous sunken
gardens. Following the first act a three-course meal of asparagus and duck egg, Bembridge blue lobster and strawberries and cream will be served, accompanied by fine wines.
There are a variety of different packages available for the evening, including private gazebos seating up to 12. There’s also the opportunity to arrive by helicopter, or to the hotel’s private
beach (pictured right) by hovercraft from Southsea, just across the estuary.
Prices range from £150-200 and dress code is informal – barefoot or black tie.
