From 6-12 August, Kingston-upon-Thames is embarking upon a summer celebration of local and gourmet food, with a variety of fun events to engage visitors of all ages.
The Kingston Food Festival begins with a riverside waiters race with participants from the local restaurants, followed by a cocktail-shaking demonstration by local mixologists from the town’s bars.
Leading high-street names and independent restaurants will be offering special deals during the festival and will be getting involved in community events such as the Kingston Food Trail, when
foodies will use a map to visit some of the town’s best kept secrets, sampling bite-sized nibbles as they go.
The local Eagle Brewery Wharf will be getting involved, too, with a three-day festival of English beer, award-winning English wines, and Sussex cider. Experts will be on hand to offer tutored wine
masterclasses, and live music will see the event go with a swing.
On the weekend of the festival, farmers and shopkeepers will man stalls to showcase their produce, with free samples galore. A children’s food festival will offer activities such as a baking
workshop and a group picnic.
Entry to most events is free, so turn up, bring an empty stomach, and enjoy. For more information, visit kingstonfoodfestival.com.
