As part of its new Ciné Anglais evenings, Bayswater restaurant Le Café Anglais is hosting a screening of the 1988 screen adaptation of Simon Gray’s play A Month in the Country on 23
February. And the restaurant has even enticed director Pat O’Connor and actor Colin Firth – who starred in the movie – to discuss the play and film on stage afterwards.
Starting at 6.30pm, guests will enjoy a screening of the film, followed by a half hour discussion with Firth and O’Connor and a two-course meal with wine, all for £50.
As Gray was a regular visitor to the restaurant before his 2008 death, and even launched the third volume of his memoirs The Smoking Diaries in the private room, the following Ciné Anglais
evening on 8 March will also be a Gray screenplay, Running Late.
