Renaissance pubs including The Avalon in Clapham, The Bolingbroke in Battersea and
The Rosendale in West Dulwich have launched a series of informal events called ‘Women in the Know’, which aim to inspire and motivate
women to learn a new skill and meet like-minded women.
First off, The Fresh Flower Company will teach a floristry course, to take place on Thursday 17 November (10.30am-2pm) at The Rosendale. The class will provide participants with tips on flower
arranging, as well as information on how to decorate tables and how to create Christmas wreaths and other homemade gifts.
Later in the month, designer Beryl Ware will teach fashion enthusiasts how to customise last season’s clothes for the coming winter and how to knit accessories from scatch. This session will take
place at The Bolingbroke from 10.30am-2.30pm (date to be confirmed).
Each masterclass will finish with participants sitting down to a two-course set menu and a glass of wine. Enjoy dishes such as goats’ cheese and roasted vegetable focaccia, or Moroccan chicken
skewers with tabbouleh and raita, followed by chocolate-and-amaretti mousse or Sicilian-lemon posset with shortbread.
The masterclasses cost £15 each, including food and a glass of wine.
