Theatreland’s legendary dining darling, Joe Allen, is celebrating its milestone 40 years on Covent Garden’s Exeter Street with a star-studded party. On 29 January, well-known friends of the restaurant will take over for an evening of fun. Journalist and critic Lisa Markwell will be serving the food and West End actress Harriet Thorpe will perform show tunes, while restaurant regular Christopher Biggins will be on the door. The £40 entry tickets include a welcome cocktail, followed by comfort-food bites such as mac ‘n’ cheese, black bean soup and chicken wings served with bang bang sauce. A selection of signature cocktails, fine wines and fizz will be available throughout the evening too.
To end the night, there’ll be a lucky dip in aid of Joe Allen’s charity partner, Mousetrap Theatre Projects, when diners could win their next meal at the restaurant for a tenner.
Joe Allen’s 40th birthday party takes place on Sunday 29 January at 6pm. Tickets are on sale from 3 January, priced at £40 (with £4 per ticket donated to Mousetrap Theatre Projects). To book, email email@example.com.
