This December, Canteen Covent Garden will welcome several high-profile guest chefs to its kitchen, including Angela Hartnett and Mark Sargeant.
The chefs, who will be cooking on separate evenings on the first three Thursdays in December, will serve up exceedingly British three-course meals with a few continental touches. Dishes range from
curried smoked-haddock soup with Cornish crab muffin, to rare roast rib of Longhorn beef, to English quince tart with Pedro Ximénez ice cream.
First up is Murano’s Angela Hartnett, who will cook with Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room’s head chef Emma Duggan. The pair will prepare a one-off menu that mixes Italian and British ingredients in
classic dishes, including roast beef followed by baked vanilla rice pudding. This menu will be available on 1 December.
Next it’s Mark Sargeant’s turn in the spotlight. The Rocksalt chef is launching a ‘feasting and grill’ menu at the Canteen chain in 2012 and will give his guests a sneak preview of the menu’s
highlights on 8 December.
Neil Borthwick will be the final guest chef of the month and will be cooking on 15 December. Currently working at The Square, his admirable CV includes stints at Tom Aikens Restaurant and The
Connaught. His menu will feature loin of venison with chestnut spätzle, cabbage and pickled pear as the main course.
Dinner at the events costs £45, including a mulled cider aperitif but excluding wine. To book, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 020 7608 2627.
