Wintertime street-food festival Hawker House, running every Friday and Saturday evening until 14 December, has something particularly festive planned for its final night. For one night only, famous
foodie Gizzi Erskine is curating an entertainment line-up to equal the food offerings of big-name street traders such as Breddos, Luardos, Slider Bar and Yum Bun. It’s anything but genteel, though.
There will be go-go girls, a transvestite choir and drag-queen Santas, along with some more tasteful edible treats: Islington butchers Turner & George will be running a meat raffle, a Christmas
gift shop will be selling stocking fillers made by top London chefs, and hot cocktails will be flowing. The afternoon session from noon-5pm costs £10 including a glass of fizz; the evening session
runs from 6pm-2am and costs £15 with a glass of fizz and a mulled wine. Showing festive spirit, Eventbrite has agreed to waive its booking fee for this
event so instead a donation of £1 from every ticket purchased will go directly to Street Smart, an organisation which raises hundreds of
thousands of pounds each year for homeless charities across the UK. Square Meal is also supporting Street Smart by pledging to donate an extra £1 to the cause for every online booking made at a
participating restaurant through SquareMeal.co.uk in November & December 2013.
