Fine-wine dinner at Clarke’s Kensington

Square Meal readers are invited to a very special evening of Californian wine and food at Clarke’s in Kensington.

On Wednesday 16 May we are delighted to be teaming up with Clarke's, Kensington for a special fine wine dinner, offering you the chance to taste seven exceptional Californian wines, matched with a menu devised by Sally Clarke.

Be the first to try the beautifully made, Champagne-style Roederer Quartet Rosé, newly arrived in this country, and the Ridge Geyserville 2008, the iconic Zinfandel made by legendary winemaker Paul Draper. Each course will be paired with two Californian wines, all terrific examples of classic Californian varietals from top producers like Duckhorn, Saintsbury, Silverado, Hahn and Quady.

This is a unique opportunity to try high end delicious wines, matched with Clarke's special menu. Californian expert John McLaren will be on hand to explain both the wines and the pairings.

California has been a huge inspiration for chef Clarke, who spent four years there during the early 1980s, meeting Alice Waters of Chez Panisse who became her friend and mentor. In 1983 she returned to London and the following year saw the opening of Clarke’s in Kensington Church Street, offering her now-famous ‘no choice’ four-course dinner menu. After more than 25 years in Kensington Church Street, Clarke’s has become one of London’s longest-running restaurants and Clarke herself can still be found most days in the kitchen and shop where she works closely with her team developing new ideas, recipes and menus.

Clarke’s specially designed menu:

Canapés with Roederer Quartet Rosé

Warm buckwheat blinis with hot smoked salmon, shaved fennel, pea leaves and crème fraiche

Roasted grass-fed Angus rib eye with horseradish and spring onion cream, Jersey Royals and steamed spring greens

Warm dark chocolate, rum and raisin brownie with whipped soured cream

Coffee and petit fours

7 wines including the iconic Silverado Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 and Ridge Geyserville 2008

Tickets cost just £75, and table sizes are flexible according to needs. To book, please contact or call 020 7840 5240. We hope you can join us for what promises to be an unmissable evening.
