Chinese New Year in London
Why not welcome in the Year of the Tiger in style? To celebrate the Chinese New Year, on Sunday 21 February special events are taking place throughout central London and Chinatown.
Starting with an official opening ceremony at noon in Trafalgar Square – with all the usual firecrackers, Chinese dragons and acrobats – two groups from China will then perform dance, music and
acrobatics. Elsewhere, a specially-decorated Chinatown will play host to food and cultural stalls, alongside traditional lion dance displays; Shaftesbury Avenue will feature a stage with
performances by local Chinese artists; while a fireworks display in Leicester Square will close the festivities at 6pm.
But the celebrations aren’t just limited to that Sunday. Chinese restaurants throughout the capital will be putting on their own events and special menus during the 15-day festival, which
officially starts on 14 February. To see a list of London’s best Chinese restaurants
