Chile Christmas Wine Festival 2011

As a prelude to Christmas, Wines of Chile is hosting its annual wine tasting on Friday 25 November. More than 150 wines will be available to sample, all of which are available in the UK from some of the country’s top high street, online and independent wine retailers. Retailers attending the event include:

Marks and Spencer
QP Wines
South American Wines Online
Taurus Wines
Virgin Wines
The Wine Society

During the tasting, experts will be on hand to answer questions, while Latin music and Chilean canapés, including delicious empanadas, will complement the wines and help usher in the weekend. Wines of Chile will also be giving away five mixed six-bottle cases of Chilean wine in a simple competition on the night.

This year, there will be a special table of 'Emerging Classics' as chosen by the press, putting the spotlight on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, as well as a table of FairTrade wines. What’s more, the popular Carmenère Made For Curry table will allow guests to try a range of Carmenères with a range of different curry sauces. Believe us, it's a winning combination!

The event takes place in the stylish Banqueting Hall at Glaziers Hall in London Bridge from 6-9pm on Friday 25 November. Tickets cost £15 or two for £25 when booked in advance. Tickets are available to purchase on the door, or to make enquiries call Anita on 07747 615976.

Chile has an enviable reputation for producing great-tasting wines at great prices. Although it is seen as a New World producer, Chile has been making wine since the middle of the 16th century, and its diverse terroirs enable winemakers to grow an immense range of grape varieties and styles, from good, inexpensive Rieslings to silky textured Pinot Noirs and serious Syrahs, as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Bordeaux blends, among other styles.
