13 courses with a difference at Restaurant Story

Angelo Sato chef restaurant Story London

You’ll know Tom Sellers as the chef-patron behind Bermondsey’s Michelin-starred Restaurant Story - but how much do you know about his team? If the answer is ‘not much’, then that’s about to change. Next Monday, the restaurant’s head chef, Angelo Sato, who has been working alongside Sellers since the restaurant opened in 2013, will host a one-off dinner showcasing his personal cooking style.

‘Mission Sato’ will be a 13-course tasting menu drawing influences from the chef’s Japanese-German background as well as his career experience to date, which includes stints at two Michelin-starred restaurants in Tokyo, plus culinary big-hitters here in London such as Restaurant Gordon Ramsay and Trinity. Dishes will include chicken with corn and Australian black truffle, and viola, scallop and crab ravioli, as well as fairytale concoctions that reflect the Story setting, such as a dessert entitled ‘Snow White, apple’. One thing is certain: once you’ve eaten his food, Sato is not someone whose name you’ll forget in a hurry.

This event takes place on Monday 10 August. The menu, including matching wines, costs £100. To book a place, email ursula@restaurantstory.co.uk or seamus@restaurantstory.co.uk.
