This week saw the launch of Soho drinking den Opium Cocktail & Dim Sum Parlour, Chinatown’s newest restaurant
and cocktail bar. To give you a sneak preview of this all-day retreat in the run-up to Christmas, Opium is offering 10% off Square Meal readers’ bills.
Behind Opium's jade door, diners will discover authentic dim sum with a fine-dining twist, plus cutting-edge cocktails courtesy of acclaimed mixologist Dre Masso – all served in eclectic oriental
surroundings reminiscent of a 19th-century opium den.
Masso’s cocktails – including opium no. 1 and kung fu fizz – are prepared with a touch of theatre at the bartender's table in his attic Academy, which also hosts cocktail-making masterclasses.
Meanwhile, the venue’s Chinese Apothecary bar uses chi-enhancing ingredients in classic cocktails.
As for food, share first-class dim sum, including pea-and-scallop dumplings or lobster-and-poppy-seed toast, all washed down with FIJI Water.
With plenty of natural light, plus AV equipment and wi-fi, Opium is cut out for business lunches, meetings and conferences by day. And with a 3am licence until the New Year, it’s a good evening
option for office gatherings and seasonal celebrations.
