Looking for somewhere brimming with character and charm to host your event near Oxford? Well, let us introduce you to The Star Inn, nestled in the heart of the beautiful village of Sparsholt. For an idyllic backdrop, you couldn’t choose a much lovelier space, from the rolling hills to the Uffington White Horse - the famous chalk carving that can be found in the area.
The Star Inn was built in 1720, the building's historic features have been sympathetically protected and uplifted with chic but timeless decor. From the exposed wooden beams overhead to the large windows which flood the space with light, the building's Georgian bones are just one of the things that make it a beautiful place to be. The site has also recently undergone a large refurbishment, embodying a certain elegance across the building that flows into the menus which have been created by Head Chef Luke Sutton. Catering is provided in house and the team are passionate about crafting dishes which show off the best of British, always focusing on seasonality and locality first and foremost.
Menus boast the likes of fennel cured trout to start, followed by Longhorn Ribeye with beef fat béarnaise and triple cooked chips. With a separate terrace menu of bar snacks and small plates available if you’re looking to host something al fresco.
All types of events are welcome here, from birthday parties and corporate events to wedding breakfasts, and you're more than welcome to speak to the team about booking a large table in the main room. However, if you'd like an exclusive space to call your own for the night, check out the refurbished private dining room. This sophisticated space boasts neutral-toned walls, mid-century style seating and wooden wall panelling with atmospheric lighting to boot.
If you need accommodation for those guests travelling from around the country, The Star Inn also offers a selection of eight boutique bedrooms in a converted barn just next to the main restaurant. An easy walk back after a fantastic night!
