All and any events are catered for at The Drumming Snipe, a cosy pub serving up refined classics at the heart of Mayford in Surrey.
Heading up the team are James Lyon Shaw and Jamie Dobbin who met while working at London’s world-famous The Ivy. The pair – tired of city life – decided to trade a crammed commute for the freedom of the countryside and haven’t looked back since. Having already opening The Greene Oak in Windsor to critical claim, they have followed on with The Drumming Snipe.
The Capella Room here is the ideal space for intimate celebrations – from business meetings through to birthday parties. If you’d like a full sit-down meal there’s space for up to 18 guests, or alternatively you can use the room for a standing reception for up to 30. Happily, there’s no hire charge with an achievable minimum spend in place instead.
If you prefer there’s also the option to hire the entirety of the large bar or cosy dining room for larger functions like weddings. With this you’ll have exclusive access to the tranquil private garden for drinks and canapes.
All menus, whatever the occasion, are headed up by Dobbin, who is the pub’s head chef. He’ll work with you to come up with the perfect run of dishes for your guests, but creations will always be seasonally focused. The Drumming Snipe specialises in a line of canapes and bowl foods to allow for a casual atmosphere at most events. Meat eaters might enjoy the truffled chicken oyster and potato dumpling or the slow cooked ham hock with mustard lentils and dandelion, while vegetarians are given equally as delicious options that range from an artichoke and truffle barley risotto through to sauteed wild mushrooms with pickled walnuts with celery and honey. Prices start from just £17 per person.
