The Corn Stores

Found at the heart of Reading’s city centre, The Corn Stores provides the ideal function venue for all kinds of gatherings – from sophisticated cocktail receptions through to classic sit down meals.

With three separate spaces, there’s plenty of scope to make this venue your own depending on requirements and the helpful in-house team are on hand throughout to ensure every detail is perfect. On the ground floor you’ll find The Bar, a spacious drinks area that’s ideal for enjoying canapes before a sit-down meal. In a standing capacity the space can accommodate up to 70 guests, with room for 50 if you’d prefer a seated set-up. With menus available for parties from ten guests, this makes a great spot for small gatherings as well as larger events.

Upstairs you’ll find The Restaurant, the heart of the venue and the most popular room for hire. Here you’ll find an open-plan layout that is well-suited to a sociable set-up and is the ideal spot to indulge in a menu of delights from head chef Liam Sweeney. Capacity-wise there’s room for up to 100 standing guests if you combine the restaurant and mezzainine area, with enough tables for 56 seated diners. On the food front, all the menus have a distinctly British flavour to them, making the most of UK-grown ingredients and seasonal produce from local suppliers. Starters might include partridge with salsify and a pinecone syrup or shaved Highland wagyu beef with hen of the woods mushrooms and black truffle. For mains there are plates of things like venison with celeriac, cabbage, walnut and truffle sauce or duck breast with sweetcorn, black pudding and chanterelles. Desserts like dark chocolate with crispy rice and toasted seaweed are safe enough to be crowd-pleasing with just enough intrigue so that they’re not boring. A proper sweet spot.

For something less formal there’s a beautiful members’ lounge where you can treat guests to sharing platters or canapes. This cosy space is decked out with plush upholstered furniture and feature lighting for a speakeasy-style vibe.
