If you’re looking for a venue that provides haute cuisine in a historic setting that fuses exposed wooden beams, Georgian wallpaper and contemporary furnishings, you’ll love The Chubby Castor. Set in the charming rural village of Castor, this restaurant run by Chef Patron Adebola Adeshina is a place where guests are afforded friendly, unpretentious service and exquisitely-presented dishes, making it an ideal place for a private event or party.
From birthday celebrations to hen parties, retirement dos and any other special occasion you can think of, The Chubby Castor has a space that’s sure to suit. There are four rooms to choose from; The Fitzwilliam, which seats up to 18 around a square table is the largest, with the other three rooms – The Study, The Chubby and The Vivian – seating between six and eight each. Three of the rooms can also be hired for standing receptions, so if you’re looking for something a little less formal, this is an option you might consider.
When it comes to the food, there’s plenty to choose from, whether you pick to dine from the a la carte, set, Sunday or tasting menu. An idea of the kinds of rich starters you might encounter include cured Loch Duart salmon, Scottish lobster ravioli, and roasted veal sweetbread with truffle lentils, which pave the way for sumptuous mains such as roasted Squab pigeon served with sand carrots, giblets and vegetable pithivier, saddleback rolled belly of pork with coco haricot Blanc and Lincolnshire black pudding, and pan-fried cod with Blue bay mussels, leeks, turnips and fennel puree. Desserts are almost too pretty to eat, and include the likes of lemon curd tart with a ginger tuile and Scottish raspberries, and dark chocolate sponge served with hazelnut crémeux and mint ice cream. A diverse selection of wines and Champagnes ensure your guests will be able to raise a glass for whatever it is you’re toasting.
