The colourful dining room at Backyard Chicken Co makes the perfect upbeat, relaxed venue for all kinds of events – from birthday parties through to work socials and everything in between. While a fried chicken restaurant might not be the obvious choice for a celebration or gathering, it makes sense if you think about it. Who doesn’t like fried chicken? Yep, there are even plant-based fried ‘chicken’ options here so we’re include veggies in that statement.
The menu is made to share and ranges from tasty sharing snacks through to impressive mains. To begin why not plump to warm up with a few wings or Korean chicken nuggets? The ideal pairing for a cocktail or two before mains, we think. Mains are where things get really interesting. There’s the choice of bone-in or bone-out chicken which can be grilled or fried and served in parts with various sauces, but the absolute winner in our opinion is the hero whole fried chicken. As the name suggests, this is a whole fried chicken covered in a kung pao style sauce and covered in toasted peanuts. This signature dish is then served with crispy rice noodles, coriander, sesame, ginger, chilli and watermelon and lime chow chow salad.
No party is complete without a little celebratory sweet, and with rainbow soft serve, salted caramel brownies and loaded sundaes all an option, it can be hard to choose. Our advice? Go for a selection of all three and let guests tuck into their favourites.
Drinks-wise, the team is fully flexible allowing you to cover the bar or have it set-up as a standard pay-as-you-go bar for guests to purchase whatever serves they fancy themselves. There’s a good range of wine, beer, fizz and soft drinks, while the cocktails range from classics like mojitos through to a slightly more unusual Tokyo iced tea (melon liqueur, gin, vodka, triple sec and lemonade).
