On the hunt for a Christmas party venue in central London that offers flavour-packed food and killer cocktails? Take a look at modern Korean restaurant Shoyu, just a stone’s throw from Holborn tube station. This laid-back restaurant is available for exclusive hire, with enough space to host up to 35 for a seated dinner - or more for a standing reception. One glance at Shoyu's Instagram feed will give you an idea of its Instagrammable fusion dishes and colourful cocktails. It might be a far stretch from a classic turkey dinner, but for groups who want to book an alternative Christmas venue this year, Shoyu is just the ticket.
Head chef and founder Jose Caetano also owns sister restaurants Pad Thai House and Green Choy in the capital, making him something of a connoisseur when it comes to Asian-inspired street food.
The main dining room is entirely yours for the day or evening, giving you access to a private bar where a team of mixologists will whip up signature cocktails for guests. Expect Korean-inspired twists on classic cocktails, like a Gochugaru Margarita made with tequila, lime juice, triple sec and gochujang syrup, and a Shoyu Garden featuring green grape Soju, pink gin and apple juice.
The a la carte menu features an array of classic Korean dishes and popular Asian-inspired street food, although you’re welcome to create a bespoke menu featuring a selection of your favourites. Its signature Korean fried chicken is not to be missed, which you can order with your choice of sauce, or enjoy as part of a main dish – think Korean fried chicken waffles, or bibimbap topped with the crispy stuff. Elsewhere, discover bao buns, noodles, soups and sharing plates, with highlights including spring onion pancake with soy and vinegar sauce and shrimp gyoza.
