Known among foodies as a destination for authentic Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine, and its gorgeous views of London’s skyline, Min Jiang is an unsung hero when it comes to private dining and Christmas parties. The restaurant continues to win plaudits for its authentic cooking and all-round appeal, including one of our very own Gold awards, but its beautiful private dining space is a bit of a secret among events professionals who might not be too thrilled about word getting out.
Min Jiang’s Chong Qing room is shielded from the main restaurant by a glass wall and shelves decked with elegant Ming vases, so while not completely secluded, it affords parties a high degree of privacy for Christmas lunches and celebrations. Decorated in rich red hues, mirrored walls and high ceilings, the Chong Qing room exudes an authentic Far Eastern atmosphere for fesitve lunches, dinners and meetings of up to 20 guests. And if it’s the spectacular tenth-floor views you’re after, fear not: Chong Qing offers the same stunning vistas across Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park and the city beyond as the main restaurant, thanks to the mirrors that line the walls.
There are no special set menus required for fesitve private dining at Min Jiang, but fans of the restaurant’s famous speciality, wood-fired Beijing duck, should know to order in advance due to the 45-minute cooking time. Of course, there is a whole menu to choose from, including favourites from China's favourite gastronomic provinces such as dim sum, soups, fish and seafood and a variety of rice and noodle dishes, but it’s the famous Beijing duck–one of our guiltiest treats in the capital – that will really get your party off the ground.
If you’re looking to get your Christmas party booked, it’s worth bearing in mind that for only £12 extra per person, guests will get a glass of Louis Roederer Champagne, crackers and novelties. Contact the venue for further details.
