Sagardi is a Basque country restaurant in the heart of Shoreditch that offers traditional dishes, regional wines and hard cider and authentic desserts. The restaurant is well-equipped to host parties at Christmas, with multiple rooms to book and special set menus crafted by the head chef.
The private dining room can host up to 18 diners, while the larger basement can fit 52. The restaurant can also be hired out in its entirety for larger events. For cocktail style receptions at Christmas, there is a special menu of indulgent canapes which showcase the menu perfectly. These include meaty options like a mini chargrilled ox burger, grilled “Morcilla” (black pudding) from Biscay, sobrassada sausage with honey, apple and crunchy shepherd’s cheese or pan-fried Txistorra (Basque sausage) from Orio.
Seafood lovers can rejoice as fish and shellfish feature heavily here too, with entries like octopus with green peas and mashed potato, grilled red tuna or anchovy with pickled green chilli peppers. There are also charcuterie-style items such as anchovy bruschetta, Ibai pate and free-range acorn-fed premium Iberian cured ham. Vegetarian canapes include mushroom croquettes or creamy goats cheese with espelette pepper sauce.
Desserts at Sagardi stick to the theme of authenticity, with choices like “Torrija”, a traditional Basque-style French toast with cinnamon - perfect for wintery nights of celebration. Alternatively, food at Sagardi can be served buffet-style for busier Christmas parties. In this case, there are four stations: grill, carvery, cheese and oyster for you and your guests to enjoy.
The grill station turns out steak, morcilla and octopus, while the carvery features a whole Jamon Iberico leg. The cheese station showcases the fines Basque cheeses while the oyster station turns out a selection of oysters shucked by the chef. This style allows your Christmas party guests to graze at their own leisure, for a more free-form evening of culinary celebration.
