With a commanding position on the fourth floor of Canada Place, contemporary French restaurant Plateau is a go-to for glamorous Christmas parties in Canary Wharf. The restaurant is able to host everything from casual pre-Christmas catch ups with friends through to the annual office celebrations.
The restaurant’s sweeping glass frontage and partially glazed ceiling allow plenty of natural light to flood into the main dining room during the day and shows off the City’s twinkling skyline after dark. A covered and heated outdoor terrace allows for alfresco celebrations – even during the winter – while two stylishly appointed private dining rooms offer an indoor alternative.
The first room, the Wine Room, features a striking floor-to-ceiling wine wall, which the sommelier takes full advantage of during tutored wine tasting (cocktail masterclasses and whisky tastings are also on offer for extra festive fun). The Wine Room can accommodate up to 24 guests for a sit-down dinner and up to 30 for a standing reception, while guests can opt for total privacy behind glazed doors, or instead leave them open to benefit from the buzzy atmosphere of the main restaurant.
Plateau’s second private dining space is The Art Room, named so because of the gorgeous Klimt’s canvas that serves as the room’s backdrop. The space offers a full view of the main restaurant through full-height glass doors and is able to accommodate up to 16 seated guests around one oval table, or up to 18 guests for standing receptions.
As for the food, expect seasonal and festive dishes which are underpinned by classic French techniques and flavours. Plateau is able to provide breakfast, lunch, dinner and canapes options, all made with the freshest seasonal produce.
Transport links are handy too - both the Jubilee and DLR train lines are just a short walk away.
