Disappointingly Mediocre
Piccolino is that unicorn in the centre of London that has an outdoor terrace to eat on with the number 94 blasting pollution in your face throughout! With their spectacular situation, it may have lead them to rest of their laurels. I think that this place is a bit fur coat and no knickers. Everything looks lovely (including the food), but there is nothing that elevates it above average. My tuna carpaccio was absolutely flavourless (to the point where I had to add salt, which I realise is a sacrelidge) and not that fresh as the colour was very washed out. Followed by my crab ravioli. Which despite, on the menu being billed as spiked with lemon zest and chilli, sadly was very bland. My friend was convinced that her main was microwaved rather than baked and the best thing she had to say about it was "Meh". Not exactly yum. The service is chaotic, forgetful but generally pleasant, but again. Average. For the money they are asking, they do need to raise their game a bit. If you want a nice suntrap with no traffic, perfect, but don't go with great expectations

We only had drinks but...
It is a great find for an Al Fresco meal without any traffic polluting your meal with every mouthful. We only had drinks, but the food I saw going past me had my mouth watering. Unfortunately the service is more about beauty than practicality, verging on the absent minded. So I would go with patience.

or you could say Refreshingly Simple. Last year, we stumbled on this place and stopped for pizza al fresco which we enjoyed. Very recently remembering this tucked away behind Regent Street, we asked to dine inside. I was seated opposite shelves laden with enticing breads and jars of colourful preserved goods on the top shelf, otherwise you could feast the eye on cured meats hanging near the business end. Eating out later meant that I hoped for something healthy-ish, and tasty. To my delight, minestrone fitted my desire precisely, being a wholesome, fully-flavoured tomato and veg soup topped with bright green (obviously freshly made) pesto. I was told it was small, but it was generous enough for me especially with the breads and oil. Pizza and a fleshy tomato and basil salad also apparently matched expectations set first time around. 2 delightful young ladies on one side of us seemed equally satisfied as did a table of 10 on the other. Next time, I will not skip main and I look forward to sampling fish or meat, or one of the many risottos or pasta dishes on offer, which could be modern or more trad' style. Although service was a serious matter, it was delivered in an aptly light-hearted, enthusiastic and efficient way. Wines by the glass were perfectly good and coffee with chocs fitted the ‘bill’, on the subject of which we thought good value. A vibrant and refreshing experience all round.

Another great visit to Piccolinos which I always find to be good value and great service. The food was great and service even better. A must for any easy going client lunch.

Nice Italian chain
Went for dinner with friends on a Thursday night and had a good experience. We only had mains and all took different things – my cacciuco (fish stew) was very nice with good amount of fish and shellfish (mussels and clams were overcooked I think as they were the size of raisins), my friends had whole sea bass and duck which they said they enjoyed. The service was very attentive and everyone was at hand as soon as one of us looked up. I found the prices a bit high for mains (around £20) for a chain restaurant, considering most things came on its own without any sides or much garnish. The place and atmosphere are very pleasant and I would come back to sample their ciccheretti

Super duper Piccolino
It was a lovely barmy evening so we sat outside. The waiters were excellent; so attentive but not too clingy. Attention to detail is what this restaurant excels in. It has a low-key stance but does not fail to deliver a fabulous all-round experience. The food is prepared and presented with style and tasted superb; exceptional quality and value for money. I will most certainly be visiting them again…very soon!
