SquareMeal Review of The Sindercombe Social

Formerly a branch of O’Neill’s, Sindercombe Social’s prime location on boozy Shepherd’s Bush Green makes it a convenient hook-up for chums craving a pint before or after gigs at The Empire next door. Having trialled their new concept in the provinces, owners Mitchells & Butlers have ditched Irish kitsch in favour of an American diner/liquor lounge vibe – a trend already well-established in the capital. Congregate at long tables or bag a booth for Route 66 chow courtesy of pop-up Ruby Jean’s Diner: expect BBQ wings, chilli dogs, sliders, NY deli sandwiches, fried chicken, mac ’n’ cheese with chorizo, burgers (lots of them) and various Happy Days desserts. That said, there’s plenty of boozy British interest in the shape of Fuller’s London Pride and Sharp’s Doom Bar alongside Yankee brews, plus fruit Pimm’s on the cocktail list. Customers can catch live music here, too.

Terrible George

Beware of the awful manager George.
terrible attitude, no empathy towards situation, rude towards his staff (was talking bad about the stuff personally to me), passive aggressive attitude. Staff look like they are at deaths door when George is around.

avoid this place until manager has changed

Pub with a great American menu. Wings and spare ribs are cooked to perfection and literally meat falls off the bone. Very generous portions and great value for money. Friendly staff and a good selection of beers on tap.

Walking into this snazzy, comfortable yet smart resteraunt, choc-a-block with 20 year olds , I had a good feeling, and was then pleased when offered a table swiftly, the only issue being that neither me nor my company could see what we were doing due to the extremely dimly lit room, and soon realised that we cold also not hear due to the loud music, which would be great if it were a pub or club, but strange for a resteraunt . We then waited a while, without being told, and having to realise that all food and drink had to be ordered at a bar… Again strange for a place advertised as a resteraunt. We are neither old , nor middle aged, but so far was slightly bemused by the strange order of events. Our mistake might have been going on their deal burger nights, but again was really shocked that after having waited in the queue for a decent 15 mins , to be told that the kitchen was closed, and this at 8:45 in the week! One of our company made a bit of a fuss about this , before a lovely person came and said they would take our order anyway seeing as we had booked, but by this point , tension was running high, and it was past 10:15 , so we decided to leave it and go out for some traditional fish and chips , which was fare more satisfying. My friend recently returned to here , but was shocked to be told that again, after calling , booking AND specifying that she wanted food not a drink, that the kitchen was closed again! So, after her having to make a fuss (again) and it being 9:00 on a weekday, she got served a chicken burger due to the fact there was no burgers! I asked her whether it was worth it in the end , and if the food was good, but all she could say was that it was fine… To be honest, I think this place has to decide what it wants to be , because it's trying to be a resteraunt, a bar and a club and it's just not working in my opinion, it has a great atmosphere and mood, but what with the resteraunt tables and menus , and no large bar area, it left me feeling really confused.
