About

This growing group of relaxed all-day restaurants operate on a ‘farm to fork’ ethos. You’re likely to find relaxed interiors featuring lime-washed brick and polished concrete walls, offset by trailing greenery, brass fittings and dark-green leather and velvet seating.

On our breakfast visit, we enjoyed one of Farmer J's field trays, opting for the shakshua which consisted of two gently poached eggs on a lightly spicy tomato and red pepper base, served alongside sourdough soldiers which are ideal for liberal dipping. Other breakfast options include various things on toast (avocado, smoked salmon or feta and kale), while there's a selection of tempting pastries too.

If you're visiting at lunchtime, you can enjoy dishes such as spiced rose harissa chicken, and charred tofu steak with an aubergine and ginger dressing, while dinner plates hold the likes of lamb shawarma and buttery whole roasted celeriac. At the bar, you’ll find cocktails with punny names (Farmers Forkin’ Pickleback, for instance); as an alternative, lager, ale and even kombucha tea are on tap. Some sites also offer weekend brunch, with dishes including sourdough banana French toast.
