Situated in the grounds of this tranquil Lutyens-style country house, Mallory Court’s Brasserie offers a casual alternative to the top-notch modern British food on offer in its flagship Dining Room. With stylish art-deco interiors and walled gardens, it’s tailor-made for business or family pleasures, while a stunning cocktail bar and private dining area upstairs add an extra fillip to proceedings. The place has its own chef, who is responsible for a flexible menu of British, European and international favourites ranging from Caesar salad, crab cakes and ham hock croquettes to fish and chips, Lighthorne lamb Wellington and wild mushroom risotto. To finish, warm syrup tart or frozen nougat glacé are typical calls. Afternoon tea is worth a punt, while Thursday evening brings the hugely popular ‘Jazz in the Braz’, featuring some of the UK’s top musicians.
