Sitting in the heart of the attractive market town of Godalming in Surrey, which itself is nestled amidst South Downs National Park, Cote Brasserie matches the airy surroundings with a French-inspired space in which to relax. A cosy interior boasts a polished dark wood setting and a sizable outdoor terrace offers wicker chairs and marble tables. Cote Brasserie isn’t perhaps the sort of place that will leave you raving but considering the fact that it’s a national chain, it is the sort of place that will leave you feeling content.

An all day offering is spread across multiple menus; a breakfast and brunch menu (available on the weekend) offers French tinged classics like a French version of an English cooked breakfast featuring boudin noir, France’s answer to black pudding, as well as the English original itself and pastries, eggs any style and things like a Croque Madame and French toast. The a la carte includes comforting French bistro dishes like Boeuf Bourguignon, French onion soup and grilled steaks as well as more contemporary dishes like a chickpea taboule or vegan burger. Cote Brasserie does a very good job of accommodating for all, with vegan and vegetarian menus as well as dedicated gluten-free and child’s menu there are few who will find it hard to find something nice to eat here.

The drinks list offers some good wine choices for a range of budgets as well a range of soft drinks, beers and spirits. And whilst Cote Brasserie always represents good value, a prix fixe menu offers heightened affordability at certain times. This is the perfect place to come for a bit of simple, but tasty food, and a quiet evening with friends or family and though being produced in the context of a chain, the food here holds some soul.
