SquareMeal Review of Loch Fyne Poole

Loch Fyne bucks the trend among national chains by offering a food & wine experience well above its high-street station. Selections from its recent menus such as hake with samphire, smoked salmon ‘sashimi-style’ with wasabi & soy, or ‘bradan rost’ with couscous salad, mango & coriander are dishes you might expect in flash big-city eateries – not in simply attired, accessible town-centre restaurants where ‘the food is reasonably priced & generously served’. This chain also caters for more traditional tastes, witness whitebait, mackerel pâté, fish & chips or fisherman’s pie alongside the group’s raison d’être – sustainably sourced oysters, mussels & langoustines from Loch Fyne itself. Most of the globetrotting wine list is available by the glass, with credible, fish-friendly pours including Albariño & Grüner Veltliner.

AWFUL- Had food poisoning from the oysters!!!

The WORST dining experience ever! *Loch Fyne Poole*

Heads up, do not order the Oysters, they gave myself, my mother and husband FOOD POISONING!!!! AVOID

Loch Fyne has got to be at the top of my list for the worst place I’ve eaten at in my life! We visited here on the 2nd January 2020 and this review has been written on the 14th January as I have tried to give the restaurant plenty of time to rectify the matter, but they haven’t!!

My husband and myself took my mum here for lunch. We started off by ordering 12 Oysters to share - 4 each then each had an entree and main course.

We were told by the waiter that the oysters were fresh so we went ahead and ordered them. They came with tabasco, lemon and shallots in red wine vinegar which I wish we didn’t use as this probably disguised the freshness. They didn’t look like the freshest oysters I have seen but I trusted the restaurant - being a seafood restaurant that they wouldn’t serve us something that could potentially kill us!

We are 100% Sure that it was the oysters as they were the only thing we all ate that was the same. The following day I got really sick and was up vomiting all night, followed by my husband and I called my mum up the next morning and she too was also sick. We had zero sleep that night and had to drive to the airport in the morning so it was a very uncomfortable trip.

Eating at Loch Fyne was the worst experience ever, I have never been sick from something i’ve eaten so I am pretty pissed off that I got this ill from a restaurant.

I reported this to the Council / Health department right away and they are investigating the matter. I also emailed management and they have been really slack in getting back to me and haven’t even offered me a refund even though I am able to prove that we have seen our Dr and he confirms that we had food poisoning.

While I have never written a negative review before like this I believe it is important to tell others about this restaurant as if I had taken my grandparents here, they would most likely have died as a result of eating here.
