No show stopper
To arrive at a restaurant and not be greeted by anyone felt somewhat odd, but all became apparent when for this particular evening service, there was just one individual waiting staff, who to be honest, worked his absolute socks off. The dining area is beyond the bar area, but as the bar traffic increased, those just drinking seemed to drift into the restaurant thus turning a relatively civilised and relaxed space into something much more noisy and distracting - fortunately this occurred towards the end of our meal so didn't detract too much. Food was so-so; the special themed dinner to reflect that evening's performance of Titanic apparently replicating meals from the last fateful voyage...can only say I'm glad it hasn't turned into my last meal! My salad contained a very woody spear of asparagus, overcooked peppers and some very bitter leaves; my companions Welsh rarebit just looked like a plate of beige. We both had the chicken Lyonnaise and whilst the chicken was tasty and well cooked, it was let down severely by overdone/borderline burnt potatoes and carrots that may have been on the hob since the Titanic went down.........However you cannot really complain at 2 courses for £15.50 and the convenience of not having to rush to your seats for the show.
