Occupying what was once the iconic Marquee Club, the raised ground-floor lounge at D&D London’s 100 Wardour Street gig isn't necessarily W1's most rocking gaff – although it’s a fair MOR bet for a suited-and-booted crowd (early Beatles is always a good look) who coming looking for plausible drinks and a selection of tasty small plates along the lines of artichoke tapenade, meaty skewers and fishy fancies. Cocktails on offer at the centrepiece 360-degree bar might include Next of Kin (a cachaça and coconut rum sparkler) and the signature 100 (an Amaretto and fig sour). You can also sink a couple of beers and shoot some pool in the small playroom, or dive downstairs to 100 Wardour St Restaurant & Club for tricksy fizzes, bittersweet Daiquiris and evolved Manhattans in what was Floridita, where the live acts and sought-after DJs pump up the jams until 3am.

About

100 Wardour St, located right in the heart of Soho, has much to offer Londoners looking for food, drink and fun. With a choice of restaurant and club or bar and lounge, as well as the playroom, this venue can cater to any gathering.

Cocktails on offer kick things off nicely with the likes of the Floral Fizz, consisting of Prosecco laced with Ketel One vodka, Belsazar Rose Vermouth and lavender, or ‘Spice Up Your Life’, made with Don Julio Reposado, passion fruit and chilli. Those not looking for a full meal can enjoy a range of bar snacks, including tacos al pastor, sweet potato and black bean quesadillas or triple cooked chips.

The full menu, however, is not to be missed, offering starters like crab cannelloni with samphire, sea beet and lemongrass veloute, mains like Barbary duck breast with turnip and potato gratin, Savoy cabbage puree and herb granola, and desserts like warm apple cake with apple sorbet to round things off. There is an impressive choice of sparkling wine and Champagne, as well as an extensive wine list to satisfy all palates.

A key attraction at 100 Wardour is live music brunch, which is packaged into very reasonable set menus. Jukebox Brunch (Saturday) guests can start with buttermilk pancakes or eggs Benedict, before moving to heavier mains like steak, and finally desserts like honeycomb crepes. This can be bumped up to bottomless for a supplementary fee, in which case guests are supplied with unlimited bubbles for the duration of the meal.

On Sundays, brunch is packaged as La Fiesta, with the food options shifting into a more Mexican gear. Expect chicken taquitos with Pico de gallo, braised lamb shank with mole poblano and crushed plantain and churros to finish. This can also be upgraded to bottomless. As top places to enjoy live music alongside great food go, this is a serious contender.

Prosecco Brunch
I have been to 100 Wardour Street numerous times, and I absolutely love it. Due to my great experiences there, I decided to take 10 friends for my birthday this Saturday. They kindly gave us the Playroom, the small private dining area, much to my surprise. It is such good value for money, for £35 each, we had 2 courses and about a thousand bottles of prosecco (they are very generous!) Looking forward to going back already, and now they have 10 more fans who are dying to go back too!

Fantastic atmosphere
I had been previously to this venue when it was Carom and was curious to see the redecoration. The upper bar and lounge has a great vibe to it now, although the lights did tend to change in brightness every 10 minutes or so while we were there. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, and after our side orders hadn't arrived with the mains he was immediately investigating. For starters the squid was excellent, but I felt the chicken main was lacking somewhat. The cocktails we ordered were fantastic and the '100' was excellently presented and delicious. Although the food wasn't perfect, still a really enjoyable night.
