SquareMeal Review of Farmcafe

Owned & run by local people & serving locally sourced food, Farmcafe delivers friendly, warm service & freshly prepared food for travellers on the fast-paced A12. It’s where you stop for breakfast on your way north, & to stock up with supplies – bread, eggs, vegetables, meat, & jam & much more are sold in the adjacent food market. Breakfast is the business, served from 7am, with local sausages, exemplary bacon, free-range eggs & brilliant saute potatoes, or there could be grilled kippers. Lunch brings tomato & fresh basil pasta, fillet of fresh haddock, or something meaty like local Suffolk ham with two free-range eggs & chips, or homemade burgers, & there are scones & cakes for tea – all offer value for money. Locally brewed real ales are equally enticing if you’re not driving.

Shambles at farmcafe
This is obviously a great place and the breakfast menu looked amazing and had us salivating mid way through a long journey. But why oh why, on the sunniest and busiest bank holiday of the year were they welcoming hordes of people with just a skeleton staff? We left after one hour and 15-minutes having only received teas and a yoghurt… Oh and three baskets of cold toast that arrived after an hour ad ten minutes by which time we'd gone past hungry! I'm sure this place is great but it's shambolic! Smarten up people!

Possibly the best ‘roadside cafe’ in the country. A real find. The breakfast is a treat and we'll find ourselves leaving London very early to enjoy a leisurely meal on the way to the beach. The accompanying shop is also good for picking up supplies if you are in the area for a few days.
