SquareMeal Review of Gamba

Silver Award

“Don’t miss this basement haven in the city”, exclaims a fan of chef/proprietor Derek Marshall’s long-serving seafood destination (founded in 1988). The interior comes with smart, thoughtful touches, and Marshall’s way with seafood marks out the venue as one of Glasgow’s best – he’s also a member of the Sustainable Restaurant Association, so eco-friendly quality is guaranteed. His exotic fish soup with prawn dumplings (“heaven in a bowl”) has achieved cult status, but it’s also worth sampling the equally exotic Loch Duart salmon teriyaki with pickled ginger, wild mushrooms, fragrant rice and wasabi or Isle of Gigha halibut with a stew of mussels, saffron, red peppers and potatoes. You will find grilled fish too, along with some veggie and meat options, while chocolate and orange brioche pudding makes a fine finish. “Fantastic service” more than justifies steep prices.

Gamba Perfection
My favourite seafood restauraunt in Glasgow. Don't miss this basement haven in the city. Amazing food with fantastic service, in surroundings that are smart but relaxed. Yes it is expensive, but you don't get the best for cheap. Don't miss the fish soup. Heaven in a bowl. I guarentee youll be back again and again.
