Read the thread 13 April 2012Delaunay, definitely. It's still new so very buzzy and glamourous.
Food is nice but simple and with the similar Austrain bent to the Wolseley. More
Read the thread May 2011Congratulations!
I love Bistrotheque in E2 excellent food, brilliant entertainment. I have had a great time at the Pigalle Club too – always worth checking the listings to see who'll be playing though.
I haven't been to either of these places but I know they're dinner and entertainment gaffs: Supperclub in Notting Hill and Circus in Covent Garden. More
Read the thread April 2011Hi Guys,
Thank you SO much for such helpful replies, I really appreciate it!
I'll do some investigating and let you know how I get on – thanks again x More
Read the thread April 2011Hello All!
I'm hosting an event in a very unusal location and we'll need to get caterers in. My usual company are fantastic but just not quite high end enough for what I'm looking for.
Have you worked with anyone who really impressed you with their quality of food, their staff and organisation?
Any suggestions would be very welcome – I'd much rather invite someone to quote who someone has recommended.
Thanks very much!

Read the thread February 2011Hi Sarah,
Knowing budget would help as well. Is this just for your mates in the team, lots of beers and an area reserved in a nice pub or an official one, canapes and champagne etc?
Will your boss give you any money to put behind the bar, spend on food? What area of London do you guys work in?

Read the thread January 2011Totally agree – thoroughly misleading and this is not the first time they've posted like this. More
Read the thread December 2010Hi Kaprow,
£5 gifts aren't easy are they! Try npw.co.uk – it's got hundreds of gifts under £5 (some crap some fun). Also totally-funky.co.uk and prezzybox.com have a big selection of stocking filler type presents.
If you know them well enough you could always buy spme books by their favourite author from a charity shop and still have money left for their favourite chocolate etc.
I made a giant card for a secret santa last year and put photos and funny quotes from old emails on there and stuck ‘Christmas Survival’ items on their like a sheet of paracetamol, berroca, spare toothbrush etc and had enough left to buy a little minature of Jack Daniels. At least he used everything I gave him!
Hope that helps!
Vic

Read the thread November 2010Hi Guys,
I have been enstrusted with the unenvious task of choosing a resturant for an entire group of friends for a Sunday in December. There will be a lot of us and as always peoples budgets range dramatically!
Ideally, I'm after an excellent gastro pub with either a room upstairs or the capacity to seat 20odd and with a set menu of around £25 a head, it will be a very laid back affair.
Location wise we're looking for central – up to Kings Cross area.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Read the thread November 2010Hi MCP,
I know a brilliant DJ that's done weddings, big corporates and high end private parties and is quite resonable but I think he'd charge a whack to go all the way out to Somerset. Your sister may be better off asking friends and family in Somerset if they know anyone local. However, if she's not too bothered about travel costs etc. Nick's on nick@nvcreative.co.uk.
All the best

Read the thread November 2010Hi Sarah,
Not sure what you mean by ‘fashion venues’? London Fashion week uses the Natural History Museum!
The Fashion Retail Academy has a catwalk in their lecture theatre and have a venue hire business and would be very relevant. A lot of fashion shows and launches use anything from bars and museums to shops and hotels and build their requirements with in house venue hire teams.
The Royal Institution is an interesting space with a brilliant venue hire team. I'm sure the square meal venue and events team can recommend some others.
Good luck with your event, More
Read the thread November 2010Upstairs at Les Deux Salons? They have two private rooms, one for 10 and one for 24, a reasonable min spend as well.
SOS has a long table on their 2nd floor that seats up to 24.
If you're on a budget the Living Room on Heddon St accomodates big groups. More
Read the thread October 2010Hi guys,
Does anybody know if there is a way to sub-let a box at wembley? I've done it at the O2 on several occasions but my contacts don't cover Wembley – any help greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Read the thread July 2010Paradise By Way of Kensal Green would be my reccomendation – the pub is enormous and the private dining room is beautiful with it's own access to a little roof terrace. Food is brill and the atmosphere is certainly buzzy.
Check their website and see who's on when you want to go as they often have DJ's, live acts, comedy, caberet etc upstairs. More
Read the thread March 2010Aggy,
It all depends on budget! There are a couple of amazing bespoke prop companies that can either make you props or already have a stock (especially of something like Alice in Wonderland).
The company Event Prop Hire are great, have a look on their website under their Alice in Wonderland theme. Giant Drink Me bottles, cupcakes, tea cups etc.
If that's out of your budget I'd highly recommend using a set designer used to creating stunning effects with a smaller budget. I know a brilliant one who is ex Royal Opera House and Jim Henson if you're interested.
I recently saw a production of Wizard of Oz and she'd transformed the entire foyer of the theatre into Auntie Em and Uncle Henry's house. It was unbelievably realistic and she had a very small budget. More
Read the thread January 2010Hi Nina,
Try the Harwood Arms near Fulham Broadway tube, it's only a couple of stops on the district line from Earls Court and it's just won a Michelin star! I haven't eaten a meal there but I went for drinks and had a selection of their bar snacks – perfect if you're on a budget as well! The venison scotch egg with a hot slightly runny egg in the middle is the nicest thing I've eaten in a long time, for £2.50!
Welcome back to London! More
Read the thread January 2010Hi Alexa,
I have a DJ that I use for all my music needs live and pre-recorded. He's very flexible and I've always been delighted with his work when he's created similar things for me in the past.

Read the thread November 2009Clos Maggiore, they do a great set lunch (leaving you to spash out on champagne)!
It's also the most romantic restaurant I've been to – ask for the conservatory! More
Read the thread November 2009I agree with Kaprow, Somerset House. Don't go to Tower Hill – it's absolutely tiny. More
Read the thread September 2009Really winds me up too. My favourite was in Clapham (there may be a clue there…) with a few mates who couldn't stop laughing at the guy on the table next door. He was eating with his girlfriend and he still had his blue tooth ear piece in. She must have felt really special… More
Read the thread September 2009Thank you so much guys! Brilliant suggestions – Will be trying Hawksmoor and L'anima.
Looking forward to seeing what Greens is like as well. More
Read the thread September 2009Looking for somewhere near London Wall, Smithfield to Liverpool Street area.
Something luxurious with great service. Not Portal, St John's or Lombard Street – all been done with these clients. Any help greatly appreciated!
Favourite restaurants of this crowd are Sheeky's, Scotts and Clos Maggiore just to give you an idea of style and budget.
THANKS! More
Read the thread August 2009Hi Raj,
The cheapest option would be to buy the cheapest muslin you can lay your hands on and do it yourself. Should be a £1.50 or so a metre. You can wrap fresh ivy or fairy lights round it for extra wow factor if you can afford it. If you have a bit more to spend I'm sure the squaremeal team can recommend a cheap events drape company. We did the muslin/ivy combo for a mates budget wedding early this year and it looked stunning. More
Read the thread August 2009Hi Gemma,
If your budget is tight I can reccomend The Wine Tun. It's right opposite St Pauls so the location is fab. Tim the manager is very helpful. The food is ‘upmarket pub’ canapes as opposed to anything really high end but I think you may struggle with your budget. We spent a lot of our budget on their great wine and there was plenty of food to go around.
Tim would be happy to have you come over for a tasting and he didn't mind me covering the downstairs of the bar (which we had exclusively) with branding and even his staff were in my T-shirts I had specially printed. They followed my brief exactly.
Tim's on 0207 248 3371.
Good luck! More
Read the thread July 2009You don't say how many people you're booking for. If it's more than 6 I'd get a provisional date in sooner rather than later. It can also be harder the longer you leave it to manage the diaries of your invited guests as their schedules will soon fill up for December!
For a big party I wouldn't leave it longer than September. If you're looking for a private chef's table get your booking in quick. You want to make sure the executive chef will be there on your choosen day.
Good luck! More
