Zucca (184 Bermondsey Street, London, London, SE1 3TQ)

Editor's pick

Limited menu (6 starters and only a few meat and fish +pasta choices) mean everything was fresh, hot, and tasty!
Venison and beetroot starter was nicely grilled, and the veal chop main was sizeable and perfectly cooked. My 3 fellow eaters were uniformly delighted with their offerings. Wine was perhaps a little pricey for its undistinguished origins (Sicily).
Noisy? yes, but it had a good amtosphere – and no raucous music.

Racine (239 Brompton Road, London, London, SW3 2EP)

We ate at Racine on a Sunday early evening in April 2010, just after it opened at 6pm. So atmosphere was difficult to judge fairly. But tasty ,hot, food was freshly prepared and served in good time. Rabbit was as good as expected and the Steak was properly cooked as ordered. A suitable choice of reasonably-priced wines (mostly French) was available. But the optional service charge rate at 14.5% was perhaps a bit sharp.
