The Golden Heart (110 Commercial Street, London, E1 6LZ) A straight 8 from me. A great pub. One it sells Fosters & 2 location. If you love lunchtime people watching, there is nowhere better than this place. Pull up a B&Q chair outside, sup your pint and watch the world go by. Hotty totty from the City clash heels with the Fashion students from E1. BMW X'5's toot and whinge as they are cut up by a sandwich seller on his bike, and Mr Mondeo mutters quietly as he realises that that last right turn has taken him into the dreaded Congestion Zone & he will have to pop to the newsagent. Summer is the best and shades must be worn, eyes, head, pocket, wherever. Ties are frowned upon in this neck of the woods. Enjoy!

Sweet Basil (65a Brushfield Street, London, London, E1 6AA) Its a very good restaurant. But so so boring … Perhaps it was the clients I was with at the time but I nearly fell asleep in my ravioli. Hand made it might be, but I expected more than 5 of them and the sause was just ZZZZzzzzz [sorry, dropped off just thinking about it] Excellent service picks this place up to the ‘keep the business card, just in case’ level. Good for a business lunch provided you have nothing important or inspiring to discuss.

Scarlet Dot (4 Crispin Square, Crispin Place, Old Spitalfields Market, London, London, E1 6DW) A good venue for a business lunch. The MD wont realise its just an up market overpriced curry house when he signs off on your expenses. That said, its a good option from the wall to wall establishments a little walk away in Brick Lane. The food is good, well cooked and has a spread of options. I would recommend clicking on their website above as it gives you a good idea about what to expect. Service is good, but they were hardly streched when I have been there.

Haz Cutler Street (9 Cutler Street, London, London, E1 7DJ) The food is good, is has to be otherwise this little taste of the middle east would have closed years ago. I understand that the shared tables idea is one brought from the middle east but its just not cricket and does not work ~ unless you have enough people to fill the whole table of course. A no no for a business lunch as you cant hear yourself speak let alone your client / MD. However, if you've a gang of giggly girls or your mates from the rugby club fancy a posh kebab and a few beers and a laugh its a good choice.

Kenza (10 Devonshire Square, London, London, EC2M 4YP) I've been popping in and out of this place for a number of years and throughout the renovation work in the surrounding office block. You will see various up's and down's in the reviews below and to a certain extent most are true. The food has gone downhill and the portions have reduced in size. However, if you were to visit as a first timer you would certainly be pleased. The service can be a little dissapointing at times but I imagine they have a large turn over of staff as I've never seen the same waiter twice. Without mentioning names, there are better establishments in the area. Its still a jewel, just needs a polish to sparkle once more.

Ping Pong Spitalfields (3-6 Steward Street, Spitalfields, London, London, E1 6AL) A delightful restaurant that cooks dim sum to perfection. However, like the name, there are some ups and downs; Ping – Wonderful food, good drinks on offer ~ especially the Lilly Tea which blooms in your glass! Pong – Solid seats are just not comfortable. Service downstairs can be a little slow. Silly ordering system. Needless to say, the Ping's are louder than the Pong's and would recommend a vist, just don't stay too long as your rear will go numb!
