Hasn’t rated any restaurants this year.

The Botanist (7 Sloane Square, London, SW1W 8EE)

It was a complete fluke finding The Botanist, but what a good one! I'd booked tickets to see a show at my favourite theatre – The Royal Court, and my friend and I normally just grab a drink and something small to eat at the theatre bar/cafe, but we ended up there very early, so decided to try somewhere else nearby.

We didn't have dinner, but had a couple of small things from the bar menu, and some delicious white wine recommended by the utterly helpful man behind the bar. Next time we will make sure to have enough time to have dinner here. It looked amazing. Can't wait!

Mangal 1 (10 Arcola Street, London, E8 2DJ)

The post above pretty much hit the nail on the head. This is the ultimate basic Turkish restaurant.

The meat here is to die for, and the gents working are always lovely.

The fact that it's stashed away on Arcola Street means you can click your heels and feel as though you aren't in London at all. Brilliant!

Song Que (134 Kingsland Road, London, E2 8DY)

I really did not enjoy dinner here. The service was awful, the food greasy and fatty, and the place needed a good scrub. People talk about this place as if it's the Mecca of Vietnamese, but I completely disagree.

I won't be back…

Pho (3 Great Titchfield Street, London, W1W 8AX)

I have become such a Vietnamese addict.. and this is by far favourite of the lot.

Pho has got the whole package. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. It's a clean and sharp looking restautant too, which instills a sense of professionalism, unlike some grungy Vietnamese places.

It does get a bit hectic at lunch time, but then what good place doesn't? The evening is my favourite time to go. Go with a friend, get some wine, and work through as much of the menu as possible – it's all delicious and fresh!
