Nahm-Jim (11 Crails Lane, St Andrews, Fife Scotland, KY16 9NR) We went to the restaurant after watching the programme hosted by Gordon Ramsay, but was sorely disappointed. There was a general apathy from the very beginning of the service. I had just nipped to the toilet & the waiter while taking the orders when I returned didnt even bother to take mine!. Then came the point where we were placing our orders for the food. Of the six of us, three of us were vegetarians & needed a bit of help with placing the orders, our waitress (beside an attitude problem) was so clueless about the menu that every question we asked had to be verified by someone else, which was ridiculous after a point. The best or perhaps the worst bit was that those dishes with a (V) sign were in fact NOT strictly vegetarian!! And we were informed of that only after we enquired specifically about them. Infact all of them but for a couple of lunch options had some form of fish or oyster sauce in them. Our point of contention was why put a (V) sign beside a dish when it is infact not ?/!! If we had ordered the ''vegetarian'' dishes i am sorry to say that we would have taken seriously ill. This apart, there was a sense of general apathy with the whole service. The starter plates were not cleared before the mains arrived, we had to ask for our cutlery, to eat our main course. Our napkins were not replaced after our entrees, & the list is endless. All in all we were thorougly disappointed with the whole experience. Would not go back there. Not sure what Ramsay saw in the restaurant, but it has miles to go in service before it even comes close to being the best Thai restaurant.
