Chinese Cricket Club (19 New Bridge Street, London, London, EC4V 6DB)

Turned up on the offchance and was treated like royalty. The service was impeccable and the Restaurant itself quite classy – although based in a posh hotel, it ought to be.
We ordered the Silken Tofu – delightful but best not eaten with chopsticks – waiter brought spoons without being asked. The squid was sublime. Both quite chili- hot but the food is based on that part of China.
We followed on with Seafood Noodles (enormous) and the Beef in Orange. Excellent. Don't want to bang on about it but we came away totally delighted. Meal for two with a great bottle of Marlborough Pinot Noir came to £84. Tap water supplied and two helpings of pre dinner nibbles.
Staff could not do enough. Saw a waiter giving some guy a short lesson in how to really use chopsticks!
