Trishna (15-17 Blandford Street, London, London, W1U 3DG) We had a great time here on Saturday night. It was busy and bustling, yet with a casual relaxed feel. We decided on the 5 course taster menu and whilst not all the dishes were a hit with everyone, the food is well-prepared and the presentation is modern and simple. I wouldn’t bother with the matching wine menu at £44.50 as it is difficult to hear what is being served, above the background noise, and I’m pretty confident I could have chosen some nice wines to go with my food. One small point, our main waiter was friendly, informative and efficient but he was aided by someone who wasn’t quite on the money which is why the service receives a more mixed rating. Look forward to going again.

The River Café (Thames Wharf, London, London, W6 9HA) I have been here many times now, mostly for lunch, but occasionally on an evening too. There is something very unique about the River Café – perhaps it centres on their choice of ingredients and their simple philosophy with food, but you can always guarantee a tasty, well-presented meal within a lovely ambience.

The Devonshire Arms (Long Sutton, Langport, Somerset, TA10 9LP) Stopped off for a quick bite on our way down to Cornwall – really good pub food! Fresh, well-seasoned and well-prepared! Scenic view across the village green too!

The Tilbury (Watton Road, Datchworth, Hertfordshire, SG3 6TB) If you are looking for simple, great tasting food, then book a table at The Tilbury! We came for a late lunch on Sunday and were impressed with the strong presentation and great tasting food we had here. My roast salt marsh lamb is worth a specific mention! Gastro pub food at its finest! Well done to Paul and his team! Whilst the service was a little slow at times – the staff were friendly and engaging – we really enjoyed it – thank you!

The Gilbert Scott (St Pancras Renaissance London Hotel, Euston Road, London, London, NW1 2AR) Oh dear Mr Wareing! When I read about your latest opening back in March, I booked our table with great anticipation to celebrate my birthday. But to wait 40 minutes to be seated last Friday night and then taste such average food was so disappointing! Other customer comments about closeness of tables are accurate, so try and avoid being seated at the banquettes on the side of the room.
