Hix (66-70 Brewer Street, London, London, W1F 9UP)

I like this place a lot – cool bar downstairs – have been for lunch and dinner a couple of times. Food is solid english cuisine – steak is good, the smoke salmon is great for a starter! good selection of whiskeys – one bad point – service is friendly however slow and need to be more attentive. However overall cool place, good food, perfect for when Im in town.

Nobu Berkeley St (15 Berkeley Street, London, London, W1J 8DY)

Editor's pick

Food is great – like the atmosphere – a little too cool for school thing going on – typical of the nobus all over the world – worth going for dinner on special occasions otherwise avoid as again the price is very expensive (£250 for 2 with only 4 mojitos and a bottle of water)

Galvin at Windows (London Hilton, 22 Park Lane, London, London, W1K 1BE)

Don't understand why the reviews here are so fantastic (I dine out twice a week in central London) – I went for lunch here with a friend – cost was £250 for 2 ( both had starters and main course and one desert and one coffee, 2 bottles of marques de riscal) – Firstly the food – the starters were not great, I had risotto which wasn't cooked properly – the mains were good but nothing elaborate – service was very good. The wine is way over priced – the views are great but for lunch its not worth the price, and for dinner you are better off at a dozen other places if you are going to spend this type of money

Maze (10-13 Grosvenor Square, London, London, W1K 6JP)

Overrated and over priced – went for dinner with 7 people here – its a complicated and hard menu to order for a large table – it seems over worked and isn't one of ramseys finer establishments. Wine list is far too expensive, food is good but its just not an overall pleasant experience when spending £75 per person on average – better places across the street – the atmosphere is poor and this is more inkeeping with a traditional hotel restaurant for those who don;t know the area

Corrigan's Mayfair (28 Upper Grosvenor Street, London, London, W1K 7EH)

like this place a lot – have eaten here twice in the last 6 months – sunday lunch at the chef's table was fantastic – great value for money – amazing room and service! Great beef and views into kitchen were highly entertaining. Also ate lunch during the week recently with 4 friends – great starters and main – fish is very good here. Service is friendly and personal – highly recommended

good all rounder this place – food is always good (not amazing italian food – trading a little on its name – but still good) atmosphere is great – friendly service – price is fair for what you get – a place a would go back to a few times a year

Asia de Cuba at St Martins Lane Hotel (St Martins Lane Hotel, 45 St Martin's Lane, London, London, WC2N 4HX)

food is very good – however there are more dislikes than likes with this place – food is good but very expensive for what it is. The drinks, again are quite good (weak but good) but again very expensive £14 for a mojito which is brimming with ice is a little ott. The vibe is quite nice, modern and vibrant shame the service is of the same all to familiar feel – very slow – constantly asking or searching for a waiter to chase up drinks and food etc – There are better places nearby at lower prices so I wouldn't bust a gut to get back

Oslo Court (Prince Albert Road (corner of Charlbert Street), London, NW8 7EN)

Good restaurant for good quality food, good service and reasonable prices – it is like stepping back in to a restaurant from the 70's with decor and menu – but where can you get fresh whole globe artichokes for a starter nowadays. Steak au povre is good and the wine list is cheap by London standards – loads of regulars – mainly elderly thou so not a place for a lively young couple but ideaal for taking the parents for a quiet decent meal.

Wahaca (66 Chandos Place, London, WC2N 4HG)

This is right near my office – great place for lunch – really cheap for amazing quality food. Street style mexican – tasty – service is always friendly, staff are up for a laugh – all the food comes as and when. Highly recommend gives this place a try for lunch or a quick laid back dinner – noisy atmosphere and not your old standard boring pseudo mexican food

Launceston Place (1a Launceston Place, London, London, W8 5RL)

went to lunch here with 2 friends – its better atmosphere at dinner however lunch was good. The 3 course set lunch is good value, the starters were average , beetroot risotto was in fact not risotto just thinly sliced/chopped beetroot – and the duck egg was not quite right, not cooked. The mains were good and the service was quick and efficient if a little impersonal. Wine list was wide spread and inclusive – desserts were nice (toffee pudding – was good) – 2 bottles of wine and the 3 courses came in at £260 with tip which wasn't bad – would recommend – but if you want a little more variation go for the a la carte menu and maybe save that for dinner!
